6 Easy Steps to Wash Your Dog Bed

Boop dog beds gives your dog a comfortable place to sleep. It also makes for a great spot to rest, play and even to chew on bones or treats. With all these activities, the bed definitely needs to be cleaned.

From simple weekly maintenance to a thorough wash, pick the cleaning method that best suits your dog's lifestyle and usage of bed. This guide will help to keep your dog's bed in good condition longer!


Once a week

1. Use a lint roller to remove fur and dust on the bed.

2. Wipe down using a damp cloth or pet wet wipes. 

3. Lightly spray the bed with a pet conditioning spray that contains calming scents, anti-microbial or anti-fungal properties or, simply place the bed in direct sunlight to kill germs and bacteria, and remove stale odours.


Once every 1 to 2 months (or when needed)

Machine wash

1. Use a lint roller to remove fur and dust on the bed.

2. Put the bed in a laundry bag. Do not wash with any other items.

3. Soak in mild or pet-safe laundry detergent. Do not use bleach. 

4. Set the mode to the most gentle or delicate washing cycle.

5. Tumble dry, then lay the bed flat to air dry in a well ventilated area until completely dry.

6. Fluff the bed after drying so that the filling is evenly spread out. Do not iron.

Hand wash

1. Vacuum or use a lint roller to remove fur, dust and any debris on the bed.

2. Soak in mild or pet-safe laundry detergent. Do not use bleach. 

3. Hand wash with room temperature water using mild or pet-safe laundry detergent.

4. Rinse thoroughly and wringe out excess water.

5. Lay the bed flat to air dry in a well ventilated area until completely dry.

6. Fluff the bed after drying so that the filling is evenly spread out. Do not iron.

 

The best way to keep your dog's bed smelling fresh between washes is to keep everything it comes into contact with clean too. Clean your dog's paw, mouth and fur after every walk, and brush them with a fragrant conditioning spray between baths. Keeping their toys, blanket and home clean will also do the trick!
